Industrial Maintenance Electrician

Juken New Zealand – Northland Mill based in Kaitaia in the "winterless Far North" seek an industrial maintenance electrician.

Juken New Zealand Ltd is a forestry and wood products company with forests and mills around the North Island. The two mills in Kaitaia are a 5½ day / 24 hr operation processing Radiata Pine into reconstituted wood panels and peeled, dried veneer.

An opportunity has now become available for a full time, permanent, experienced maintenance Electrician to join our team based at our Northland Mill in Kaitaia, NZ. Shift work will be required for this position. You will work a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Remuneration:

$30-$35 per hour

Key Responsibilities include:

* Carrying out preventative maintenance work on electrical equipment

* Provide "front line" support to Production and Mechanical departments

* Attend breakdowns

* Overhaul various electrical equipment, including motors and motor controls.

* Diagnose electrical controls

* Excellent trouble shooting ability for electrical systems

* Installations (COC & ESC )

The ideal candidate will have:

* NZ Electrical Registration

* Several years’ experience in electrical maintenance of industrial plants, including

* Experience with 3 phase motors, motor protection, motor controls, industrial sensors and a wide range of industrial electrical and control equipment.

* Experience working shift work

* Advantageous - experience with Variable Speed Drives, PLC control, basic instrumentation, encoders etc

* Experience in CMMS. (Computer Maintenance Management Systems)

Position Title: Shift Electrician

Reports to: Electrical Supervisor

Department: Maintenance Department

Location: Kaitaia

Role Purpose

Undertake the maintenance, operation and repair of electrical systems.

Perform installation and maintenance tasks in order to ensure the effective operation of various electrical equipment.

Responsible for providing electrical maintenance support to the Kaitaia Mill.

Role of Department

To maintain the integrity of the mills electricity network and provide electrical maintenance support to ensure the safe, timely and efficient response to breakdowns and planned maintenance requirements.

Providing technical and operational maintenance expertise, and fault diagnosis/rectification and breakdown support for electrical systems and equipment through planned and reactive maintenance regimes to ensure that JNL facilities are operating at an optimal level at all times.

Enabling the success of JNL by promoting a safe work environment, encouraging team work, acting honestly, using innovation, and being reliable.

Key Accountabilities

The Shift Electrician is accountable for the following;

Undertake all tasks assigned Including;

· Installations

· Troubleshooting

· Repairs

· Calibrations of electrical systems and equipment

· Preventative maintenance

· Work projects

· Carry out preventative maintenance work on electrical equipment.

· Provide support to Production and Mechanical Departments in electrical matters.

· Carry out electrical isolations inside cabinets.

· Develop a basic understanding of the process to assist with troubleshooting.

· Build a good working relationship with other staff.

· Attend breakdowns.

· Overhaul motors and other electrical equipment.

· Interrogate the PLC systems to diagnose problems.

· Have an understanding of the various electrical devices, motor starters, overloads, VSD’s.

· Have an understanding of how the various control devices work.

· Provide basic level of expertise in instrumentation.

· Provide basic technical support for electronics (thickness gauges, bond analysers, weighing systems , microprocessors etc).

Maintain a Working Knowledge of;

· The Electricity Act 1992

· The Electricity (Safety) Regulations 2010

· Ensure these records are completed accurately and presented in a timely and tidy manner

Health & Safety

· As a JNL employee, the role holder has personal accountabilities under the H&S at Work Act 2015 and the Resource Management Act 1991 to protect his / her own safety and not to do anything that may cause harm to any other person in the work place or to the environment.

· The Role Holder must strictly adhere to JNL’s HSE policies and procedures in force, for mill and forestry operations including the duty to report any hazards or incidents that the role holder becomes aware of.

· The Role Holder shall ensure that processes and procedures at their site are compliant with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and the RMA through the implementation of JNL’s HSE Management System ensuring that:

· they are up to date, and

· All reasonable steps have been taken to protect all employees, contractors, visitors in the workplace and the environment from harm.

· The Role holder shall also:

. Contribute to the establishment of key HSE performance indicators to measure improve HSE performance across all mills and forestry operations;

. Achieve or exceed agreed key performance HSE indicators; routinely review and report (monthly) on HSE performance and development.

Person Specification

Essential Education

· Electrical registration with Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) or proof of eligibility

· Full Class 1 NZ Drivers Licence, F* Endorsement essential

· First Aid Certificate*

· Permit to Work (PTW), Receiver Course*

· Confined Space Entry / Work course*

· Elevated Work Platforms (EWP) Course*

· Gas Testing Course*

*If you do not have these requirements upon appointment to the role then your employment will be subject to gaining these in a prescribed timeframe.

Desired Experience

· Experience in an industrial environment would be an advantage

· EWP and working at heights

· PTW system

· Ideally, experience working with the following equipment: On site there are 11 kV and 3.3kV motors and starters up to 2,200kW, and 415volt variable speed drives and soft starters from 0.18kW to 200kW. There are PLC systems which control a large amount of the plant and are used to assist in fault finding. There are also pressure and flow transmitters and other instrumentation
