The Vocational Literacy Team is a small but close-knit team that sits within the Quality Team. The Vocational Literacy Advisor reports to the Vocational Literacy Manager. The team actively supports learners and staff across the wider organisation.
\n
While working primarily with electrical apprentices and electrical training and support staff, this role contributes to the wider team strategy, goals, and projects. One such project is coordinating the Disability Plan roll out. Our Disability Plan maps over the next three years and beyond, how we (SCG) will set out to achieve an inclusive and equitable environment for our disabled learners.

Your key responsibilities:
\n\n
\n
Support existing on-line Literacy and Numeracy assessment processes and collect and disseminate relevant data as required to maximise learner achievement
Build and maintain effective relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure learning support solutions and/plans are effective
\n
Participate in continuous improvement by contributing to ongoing review and enhancement of the Team’s support options, and its systems and processes
\n
Work with the team to implement, monitor and review effectiveness of learning support solutions for learners and capability building of internal and external stakeholders
\n
Be an active participant and contributor towards achieving the Vocational Literacy Team strategic outcomes and projects
\n
Actively support our Māori Engagement team to successfully deliver on initiatives supporting successful Māori outcomes and support aspirations relevant to building internal awareness and capability around tikanga, kawa, and Te Reo Māori.
\n
Actively support the Pasifika team to achieve and deliver on their strategy outcomes and aspirations that support Pasifika success while growing our awareness of the different Pasifika cultures in Aotearoa.
\n
Comply with Health and Safety requirements of the business and legislation.
\n
Use a strengths-based approach when developing relationships with adult learners. Showing respect, care and giving value to our learners existing knowledge and skills and acknowledging their values, culture, and life experiences.

Desired Skills and Experience\n

You are passionate about empowering people to achieve their education and training goals. You will have some experience as an adult educator, an adult literacy and numeracy tutor, or as a learner mentor working with diverse learners. If you have “Tradie” experience, all the better.

Adult Education qualifications or
\n
NZCALNE Level 5
\n
\n\n
Or
\n\n

Another relevant qualification or equivalent skills and experience

Strong organizational skills
\n
Excellent interpersonal skills

Good computer skills and familiarity with Excel would be an advantage.

You will need a reliable vehicle as there may be some travel required.
