Global Retail Sales Lead

At Kids Ride Shotgun, we’re on a mission to raise the next generation of mountain bikers.
Our customers are mountain bike parents with kids 0 to 5 years of age, and we have grown quickly since starting the company 5 years ago – with over 95% of our customers now off-shore, primarily North America and Europe. We manufacture in Asia, and sell via international distributors who supply bicycle retailers, as well as via e-commerce and amazon channels.
We are now entering the next phase of our journey, and need to drive and coordinate the growth of our retail sales function. This is a highly strategic position where you will be leading and guiding a team of highly capable sales people to achieve ambitious objectives – we need you to bring your passion and energy to this role.
Reporting to the general manager, and working closely with our marketing and product leaders, this key role has full ownership for retail sales through to the P&L and board. This role is based in our Mount Maunganui office, and requires regular international travel to meet the needs of our business, distribution partners and sales team.
Key responsibilities:
You will leverage your skills and experience to;
- Design, own and champion the Kids Ride Shotgun sales process across the business, from sales team to distributors and key accounts. You will be responsible for ‘how we sell’ to our global partners (new and existing)
- Lead the sales strategy – from key account strategies to pricing, margins and merchandising decisions, this role has responsibility for the development and delivery of our global retail sales targets and objectives.
- Develop sales systems and structure to enable the sales team to meet and exceed targets.
- Lead and grow our international sales teams across Europe and North America in terms of day-to-day management and development, whilst also cultivating a strong culture and connection to our wider team.
- Lead demand forecasting and sales pipeline, working closely with supply chain and product teams to analyse market data and trends, to optimise Kids Ride Shotgun’s commercial performance.
- Collaborate with our New Zealand based marketing team to elevate our in-store presence and deliver amazing retail/trade focused events in-market.

- Show strong commercial acumen, showing judgment and management of budget/spend
- Demonstrate success in a similar level position with real world experience
- Have a proven track record of retail growth, and be able to demonstrate successfully building distributor relationships
- Show experience with CRM/ERP software and/or tools to manage your team and report on their in-market activity to the business
You’ll also need to believe in selling brand and customer experience above product specs and features, and for this reason, experience with a premium consumer goods product would be advantageous for this role.
