The Product

Named eShepherd, this future farm technology is all about wearable tech for livestock, enabling them to be tracked and monitored. From the comfort of the homestead, farmers can use the eShepherd web and mobile app to draw virtual paddocks and automatically move their animals. This allows farmers to automate advanced grazing techniques, improving productivity and profitability.

The Role

We’re looking for an IoT Engineer to join our eShepherd team to create cutting-edge IoT applications that enhance our products and servicesYou’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing IoT solutions that enable seamless communication between devices, collect and analyse data, and drive actionable insights. 


The Fit

To succeed in this role, you’ll have proven experience in IoT development, including designing and building IoT applications from concept to deploymentYou’ll be an excellent communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsIdeally, you’ll also have:


  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud 
  • Experience with tools/technologies such as MQTT, RabbitMQ, Node-RED, Redis, OpenVPN, Protobuf, REST APIs, Wireshark, MySQL
  • Proficient programming skills in languages such as Node.js, C/C++, Python, Java
  • Familiarity with IoT protocols such as LoRa/LoRaWAN, ZigBee, BLE, Thread, LTE-M/NB-IoT
  • Familiarity with Ubuntu/Debian/Linux and bash/shell scripting
  • Familiarity with SDLC, GIT version control and branching
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex IoT issues
  • A detail-oriented approach to design, implementation, and testing.
