The Business

ADInstruments provides innovative technology solutions to facilitate research and education for organisations operating within the life science sphere. With a team of 80 in New Zealand and almost 200 globally, operating from 13 offices around the world and alongside an extensive global distribution network, we are a leader in our field.

The Team

We value diversity of all kinds and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team where we learn from each other. Our team prides itself on global collaboration and we’re excited to introduce you to the ADInstruments culture of passionate people who love science, learning and creating world-class products.

Your Role

We are looking for a collaborative professional who can provide legal advice and support to our New Zealand and International offices. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for reviewing and negotiating customer and business partner contracts whilst keeping abreast of local and international legislative changes that may impact the business, liaising with external counsel as required. Risk management, data security, and privacy are also key functions of this role, whereby you will offer proactive advice on possible legal issues, help minimise risks and keep management informed of any legal risks.

Skills and Experience

As our ideal candidate, you will be a qualified lawyer with significant commercial experience in negotiating & managing contracts. An understanding of data protection and privacy is desirable. You will be a great communicator, as a significant part of this role is to be the in-house “go to” for legal matters; communicating and negotiating with external parties, liaising with legal counsels and specialists, as well as providing clarification on legal matters to others within the organisation. This role could suit anyone from a wide range of industries and backgrounds.

What’s in it for you

This is a unique opportunity as the stand-alone In-House Lawyer where you will be involved across the breadth of our organisation in the high-growth Ed-tech industry. You will be challenged to learn as you go, improve systems and processes and apply your skills in this niche area.

At ADI you will have the opportunity to work within a flexible, hybrid working environment with the Dunedin office located in the heart of a modern cafe precinct. We are proud of our competitive remuneration strategy, and range of additional benefits including a flexible work policy, wellness initiatives, paid parental leave, and additional leave options. Our staff enjoy regular empathy sessions, happy hours, social club activities, and our annual volunteer day.
